In the early morning hours of September 28th, our family lost our home to a devastating house fire.

I woke up to the house burning and immediately began trying to get everyone out. I had to break the downstairs windows to wake my father and yell for him to get out of the house. Thankfully, we were able to get most of our family and animals to safety, but heartbreakingly, three of our cats did not make it out.

By the time the fire was extinguished, very little of our home remained.

We lost essentially everything we owned—our clothing, furniture, important documents, electronics, personal belongings, motorcycle helmets and gear, and nearly all of my tattoo equipment and supplies that I use to make my living. My boyfriend, Nolan, also lost his wallet, clothing, personal belongings, and Army gear.

Some of the losses can eventually be replaced. Others never can.

My mother passed away in August after battling stage IV cancer. In the fire, I lost the things I had left of her, including her ashes and the hair I had saved after she passed. Losing those pieces of my mom only weeks after losing her has been incredibly difficult to comprehend.

I am also currently pregnant and have Type 1 diabetes. Much of my insulin and diabetic supplies were destroyed in the fire, so in addition to finding somewhere for our family to live, I am trying to replace essential medical supplies and make sure both the baby and I are okay after the fire and smoke exposure.

For the immediate future, my son Ares will be staying with his father while I try to establish a safe living situation and begin putting our lives back together.

Right now, we are starting over with virtually nothing.

Any money raised will go toward immediate necessities such as temporary housing, clothing and shoes, food and toiletries, replacement medications and diabetic supplies, replacing identification and important documents, necessities for Ares and the baby, transportation expenses, and eventually replacing the tattoo equipment and supplies I need to return to work.

I don't really have the words yet for what it feels like to watch your entire life disappear in a matter of hours. I'm incredibly grateful that we made it out alive, while simultaneously grieving our animals, our home, my mother's belongings, and everything else that was lost.

We're taking things one hour at a time right now.
