Hi everyone,
As some of you may know, Kyle and I went through a bit of a nightmare the day before my birthday, on August 9th.
We were at my parents house celebrating my birthday when I started getting alerts on my phone about a fire in our neighborhood. After looking further into the alerts and listening to the 911 calls, I realized they were describing our house.
We immediately rushed home and arrived to find firefighters and police already there. Thankfully, they had just put the fire out before it could spread to our home. While our house was spared, our fence, our neighbor’s fence, trash cans, and several other belongings were destroyed.
Unfortunately, Kyle’s car was parked at home during the fire and sustained extensive damage, with the entire driver’s side melting from the heat of the fire. His insurance company has determined that the car is a total loss. He had only purchased the car about 10 months ago, and it was a rare find with low mileage — exactly the car he had been looking for. It absolutely broke my heart to see how devastated he was when he saw his car for the first time after the fire. It literally broke my heart.
We are incredibly grateful that everyone is safe and that the fire didn’t reach our home. At the same time, the aftermath has been overwhelming, especially for Kyle. The fire marshal’s investigation has concluded that the fire was accidental and no-fault, but unfortunately, they were unable to determine what caused it.
Thankfully, Kyle does have insurance, but I’m hoping to raise a little money to help him with the unexpected costs that come with replacing his car, including a down payment for a new one, as well as some of the other belongings and expenses we’ll need to take care of moving forward. He had just gone through the entire car-buying process less than a year ago, and having to start all over again so unexpectedly has been incredibly difficult. Insurance is not covering all of what he owes + his rental and it’s leaving him in an unfair situation.
If you’re able to contribute, any amount would mean so much to both of us. If you aren’t in a position to donate, simply sharing this link would mean the world to us.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and for supporting us through this incredibly stressful and unexpected time. We are so grateful for all of the love and support. ❤️
