Rebuild Balance and Bliss Studio

My name is Tina Carey, and Im the heart behind Balance and Bliss, a wellness studio in Norfolk, Va.— a space built on the belief that healing can be saved, artful and deeply personal. I’ve spent years creating this sanctuary, offering sound healing, expressive arts, creative workshops, and quiet refuge for those walking through trauma, anxiety, grief and rediscovery.

On April 30th, 2025, everything changed.

A fire broke out at my studio. While no one was harmed, the physical space and everything inside— art, sound healing instruments, sacred tools, personal belonging and years of love— was consumed by smoke and soot. The devastation is complete. I have lost not just material items, but irreplaceable pieces of my purpose and my heart.

Balance and Bliss was never just a business. It was born from my own lived experience with trauma, loss and survival. After losing both of my brothers— one to overdose and the other to suicide just days apart—I needed a place where grief could breathe. A space where healing wasn’t rushed.

So I created it myself.

Balance and Bliss became a physical manifestation of that promise:

A sanctuary where people could exhale.

Where sound could soothe old wounds.

Where paint and poetry could speak what words couldn’t.

Where brokenness was not something to hide— but something to hold.

This space was built with intention, every bowl, brushstroke, and candle part of a larger purpose: to remind people that they are not alone, and that healing— no matter how slow— is still healing.

Now, I’m trying to find the courage to begin again.

What has made this loss even more painful is discovering that the business insurance I purchased online—without an agent was liability only. I never imagined that something marketed as “Business Insurance “ would offer no protection for my healing materials. I thought I was covered! I thought I did everything right.

Instead, I’ve been left to face the ashes with no safety net. And it has felt like losing part of my soul.

Replace essential healing tool (sound bowls, instruments, and sound therapy equipment)

Cover expenses for cleanup, storage and beginning the rebuild process.

If I reopen with repaired walls, and paint and just a sound bowl. I’d be grateful for that.
