This GoFundMe is being launched on behalf of Zena Murray and her family to help them rebuild after a series of devastating health and financial hardships. I hope you find it in your heart to support them during this holiday season.
Zena Murray, a lifelong Springfield resident, Central High Class of 2002, and a mother of 8 children total and raising 6 children at home. Also a Bay Path University student working toward her BA in Human Services while balancing family, work, and major life challenges.
Zena’s dance studio, Youthful Expressions, has served Springfield youth for years. COVID-19 hit the business hard, especially when the mall where it was located permanently closed. They’ve been fighting to rebuild ever since.
After relocating to a new building and using all available funds for the move and build-out, financial assistance was denied due to tax issues belonging to the building prior owners, something completely out of Zena’s control. New owners took over and have been gracefully working with Zena but unfortunately YE is facing staffing changes and a graduating class forced the studio to rebuild its programs from the ground up.
As the studio struggled, Zena’s family faced heartbreaking challenges at home:
• Her husband suffered a stroke
• Shortly after, Zena experienced a heart attack
• Her husband’s disability claim stalled due to identity theft
• Their home is dealing with plumbing and heating issues
• Their car currently has no heat, making daily needs even harder
Zena and her family are doing everything they can to stay afloat while caring for their children, maintaining their home, and keeping Youthful Expressions alive for Springfield youth. Donations will help stabilize their household, cover urgent repairs, pay back rent and support the relaunch of a studio that has always poured back into the community.
From Zena - Even in the hardest season of our lives, we haven’t given up. I am committed to my family, my education, and this community. Your support, big or small, will help us get through this difficult time and continue serving Springfield families.
Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and love.
