Our family has already endured an unbearable year of loss. When our mother, the eldest of three sisters passed, it was her two sisters and our grandmother who stepped in to help raise our children in the years that followed. In 2025 alone, our family has lost all three of these matriarchs. Now, the few family members who remain are struggling to survive. Their homes in Bluefields, Robins River and Belmont, Westmoreland, have been severely damaged — roofs ripped away, walls collapsed, and water lines destroyed. They are living without proper shelter or clean water. One of our relatives, who is blind, faces unimaginable hardship along with his caretakers, who have lost everything. To lose so much family in one year, and now the homes that carried our memories, has been emotionally shattering. It is a humbling and painful experience to ask for help, but in this moment, we truly have no other choice.
This GoFundMe is being created to help rebuild family homes and restore a sense of safety and dignity to those left behind. Every donation — no matter the size — will go directly toward rebuilding materials, roofing, furniture, and essentials for survival. The goal is to raise $100,000 USD through November and start rebuilding in December.
Hurricane Melissa reminded us how quickly life can change. Yet, even in tragedy, we believe in the power of compassion and community. Your kindness can help rebuild not just homes — but hope for an entire family trying to stand again after loss upon loss.
Please consider donating or sharing this campaign with others. Your support means more than words can express.
From our family to yours — thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
