Hurricane Mellisa has left the farming communities of Grange , Williamsfield and neighboring communities in Westmoreland devastated. The category 5 hurricane made landfall in Westmoreland and moved slowly across the island causing catastrophe disaster leaving thousands homeless and struggling to meet even the most basic needs.
My family, including my disabled father, and so many of our neighbors are now facing unimaginable challenges as they have no food, water or shelter. It’s hard to get aid to the communities as some roads still inaccessible.
Our community has always been close-knit and quick to help each other out but this disaster is bigger than anything we have faced before . Those who can have opened their homes to babies and the elderly, but resources are stretched thin and the need is overwhelming.
We are raising funds for:
Food supplies: flour, rice, canned goods and all
non perishable items.
Home Repairs: roofing materials , lumber, nails etc.
Shelter: tents , tarps, blankets , mattresses, lamps, batteries, solar items
Clean Water: bottled water, filters, purification tablets
Baby: clothing, formula,diapers ,wipes
Essentials: deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrush , feminine hygiene etc
Hundreds of thousands have no idea when they will have a meal , water or shower.
The recovery will be a long one, but every penny counts and coming together as a group will change lives, restore faith in humanity.
Your support will help us rebuild, care for the most vulnerable, and show that even in the darkest times, we are not alone. No donation is too small , every penny counts and will change someone life. Please share to your family , friends and on all social media platforms.
Thank you for standing with us and helping to change lives in Westmoreland.
