Rebuild Third Wave After the Fire

After a strong Valentine’s Day weekend, Third Wave had recently finished celebrating a major renovation project that they invested so much time, energy, and heart into, when an unexpected electrical fire in the kitchen brought everything to a sudden pause.
Thankfully, no one was hurt. But the fire caused significant damage to the kitchen and walk-in, leaving them facing major repair costs at a time when they had already stretched themselves to improve and grow the restaurant we all love.
They are currently open while repairs are underway. The staff has been working together between Third Wave and Third Wave Smokehouse to keep food moving and doors open. It hasn’t been easy, but they’re doing everything they can to maintain normalcy for the guests and employees.
Insurance will help, but it won’t cover the full impact. Most importantly, they want to continue supporting the employees and protecting their livelihoods while management navigates this setback.
Third Wave has always been about community: the regulars at the bar, the families who celebrate milestones here, the visitors who discover us and come back year after year, and most importantly, the staff who makes it all work. The encouragement and generosity we’ve already felt has been incredibly meaningful. They’re determined to come through this stronger, together.
They are currently assessing the full financial impact of the fire, with repair estimates ranging between $200,000 and $300,000. The fundraising goal is set to reflect the gap between insurance coverage and the total cost of repairs, as well as the resources needed to sustain payroll during this period.
The fundraising goal has been set at $200,000.
If contributions exceed the immediate recovery needs, any additional funds will be directed toward supporting the Marine Discovery Center in New Smyrna Beach.
Third Wave is deeply grateful to the good Samaritan who first noticed the fire and contacted emergency services. The team extends its sincere thanks to the New Smyrna Beach Fire Department for its swift response, which prevented even greater damage.
The restaurant is also incredibly appreciative of Patrick Construction for putting other projects on hold to prioritize repairs and help move the recovery process forward as quickly as possible, as well as the local restaurant and business owners who have generously lent equipment and offered support, and the loyal guests whose encouragement has meant more than can be expressed.
The continued support from the community serves as a powerful reminder of why Third Wave does what it does.
If Third Wave has ever been part of a celebration, a quiet evening, a meaningful conversation, or a memory for you, we humbly ask for your support.
Every contribution — of any size — makes a difference.
If you are unable to donate, sharing this campaign with friends and family is equally appreciated.
The Third Wave team thanks you for standing with them.
