Rebuild the home of Beth, Craig, Rudy & Ted
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Beth's mum & as a family, we are doing our best to support Beth, Craig and our young grandsons, whilst they live through this absolute nightmare that the builder has left them in, the builder has destroyed their home, their dream and has gone a good way to destroying their lives, albeit thanks to their strength, support and determination they will come through this intact, as a family and stronger than ever.
Here's the story ... Sadly in April 2019 Craig's beloved dad John passed away from pancreatic cancer, such a kind and much loved man, way too young, he was Beth's best friend helping with DIY around their home whilst Beth was on maternity leave & adored young Rudy who was only months old and his first grandchild, he had so many plans which were sadly never to be.
With Craig's inheritance and a re-mortgage they raised the money needed to extend their family home to make it their forever home, they loved Frampton, Craig has lived there all his life as had his dad, and generations before, a member of pretty much every sports team in Frampton, fully invested in family life in this beautiful English Village, and a vision to brings their boys up to continue this lifestyle as much as a legacy to Johns memory as anything else.
With plans approved they set about finding a builder, imagine their luck when a friend of Craig's through his sport got in touch to say he’d be happy to take on the build. Craig had known him since he was 2 years old, their fathers were friends, this was great news.
All appeared to go amazingly well, Beth welcomed the builder into their home and became friends with the builder and his wife too, with young children of their own and an apparent investment in family they appeared to have lots in common.
It’s a long story after this, the build appeared to be a dream build, but after Christmas 2021 the builder failed to return, he’d had pretty much all of the money …
In Feb of 2022 An Architects Expert report highlighted the true horror of the build and the true extent of what the costs will be to rectify.
None of the works had been signed off by the building inspector at any stage, the drainage was not correct the floor could give way at any time due to the cavity beneath, a totally incorrect roofing system had been installed, a quote we have obtained from a roofing company actually quotes words to the effect of ‘ this is the worst roof he has seen in all his many years, and actually looks like someone has watched a you tube video and had a bash’ … the pillars that should support the steels are literally just bits of broken brick, lintels are incorrect with sagging brick work, incorrect roof tiles, the list goes on and on … an independent Scott Schedule estimates the remedials to be in the region of £98,000.
In March of this year the builders company was dissolved, once this came to light in June the Court dismissed the case, its cost us In the region of £30,000 to fight this court battle, money we could have spent on starting to put things right, not to mention 18 months of their lives when they could have started to put things right but were unable to do so whilst the case was live.
Each and everytime it rains the dirty water just gushes in through the sodden OSB board. Much of the ceiling plasterboard has already fallen in with a huge chunk falling into the kitchen early on Christmas morning when thankfully the two little boys were safely in bed.
This go fund me is being set up at the request of many of Beth & Craigs friends who would like to contribute toward starting a fund to start getting this build put right. We whole heartedly hate the idea of asking for this sort of help, but there very few other ways to raise the sums needed.
This builder effectively stole more than £100,000 from them, this should be a criminal offence, instead he happily has another business with his business partner, … This isn’t the first time he has done this, he has a track record of folding company’s but also of leaving customers with very sub standard builds not fit for purpose, we believe we are now aware of 6 other victims.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you are able to make a small donation we would be hugely grateful, we have received many offers of help, but this would enable much needed materials to be purchased
Many Thanks
