Hello, my name is Andrei Hastings, and I am a proud native of Westmoreland, Jamaica — a place I still call home no matter where life has taken me. Recently, our beloved parish was devastated by Category 5 Hurricane Melissa, leaving behind unimaginable destruction.

Having spent much of my life in rural Westmoreland, I know firsthand the challenges our communities faced even before this storm — limited access to resources, fragile housing, and persistent poverty. Now, in the aftermath of Melissa, many families have lost their homes, their livelihoods, and their sense of security.

While communication from Jamaica has been difficult, my conversations with family and friends still on the island paint a heartbreaking picture:

Homes have been flattened or lost roofs entirely

Roads and farmlands are washed away

Families are sheltering in damaged structures with little to no aid. That’s why I’ve launched this relief and rebuilding fund for the people of rural Westmoreland.

How the Funds Will Be Used:

Every dollar raised will go directly toward helping families rebuild their homes and restore hope. Funds will be used to:

Purchase building materials (lumber, zinc sheets, cement, nails, etc.)

Hire local professionals (carpenters, masons, and electricians) to rebuild homes

Assist vulnerable families — those who lost everything

Transparency is important to me. I will share updates, photos, and progress reports as rebuilding begins to ensure every contribution is accounted for and makes a tangible difference.
