Dear friends and supporters,

Through Praying for Our Children (P4OC), our mission is to restore safety, dignity, and stability to vulnerable children, one orphanage at a time.
Today, we are focused on Rachel’s House Orphanage in Abuja, Nigeria, a home that has fallen into serious disrepair and is no longer safe for the children living there.
Floors are cracked, roofs are leaking, walls are deteriorating, and essential systems like water, electricity, and sanitation are failing. These are not minor repairs; they are conditions that directly affect the health, safety, and future of the children.

Project Overview

Location: Abuja, Nigeria
Facility: Rachel’s House Orphanage
Children Served: 43
Project Type: Full structural and infrastructure restoration
Total Budget: $40,000
Separate budget for furniture: $16,000

This project is not about temporary relief. It is about fully restoring a living environment so that children can grow, learn, and live in safety and dignity.

What We Are Doing

We have partnered with a trusted local construction team, and a full Bill of Quantities (BOQ) has been prepared to ensure every dollar is used with precision and accountability.

The renovation includes:

  • Structural repairs and demolition of unsafe flooring
  • Over 1,000 m² of floor and wall tiling
  • New roof covering and safety screeding
  • Replacement of 48 windows and 45 doors
  • New plumbing systems and bathrooms
  • Electrical rewiring and lighting
  • Interior and exterior repainting
  • New furniture and essential fixtures
  • Borehole and water collection system installation
  • Full site cleanup and safety preparation

Progress So Far

Renovation work is actively underway, with steady progress being made across multiple phases of the project.

Because of your support, we have successfully advanced key areas of the restoration, including:

  • Ongoing plumbing installation for bathroom facilities, now nearing completion
  • Repair and reinforcement of window security systems for improved safety and durability
  • Preparation of wall surfaces for tiling and finishing work
  • Coordinated transition into the next phase of structural and interior improvements

The project is progressing in alignment with the planned schedule, with multiple elements moving into the finishing stage.

You can see real-time progress through the photos and video updates shared on this page, documenting each phase of the transformation.

This project is actively in progress, and we are now raising funds to complete the final phases of construction.

What Happens Next

The next phase of work includes:

  • Completion of plumbing installations
  • Final wall preparation ahead of tiling
  • Installation of secured window systems
  • Commencement of screeding and finishing works

Each step moves us closer to completing a fully restored and safe environment for the children.

Why This Matters

43 children currently live in this facility.

This project restores more than a building. It restores:

  • Safe places to sleep
  • Clean water access
  • Functional bathrooms
  • Secure and stable living conditions

Every improvement directly impacts the daily life, health, and future of these children.

A Model That Goes Beyond One Location

This is part of One Orphanage at a Time, an initiative designed to restore orphanage facilities across Nigeria.
Each completed project becomes a foundation for the next.
Our goal is not just to fix one building, but to establish a repeatable system for transforming orphanages, one facility at a time.

Transparency and Accountability

We are committed to full transparency at every stage:

  • Funds are transferred securely through verified channels
  • Work is executed by vetted local builders
  • A detailed BOQ guides all spending
  • Receipts, progress photos, and updates are shared regularly

Every dollar is accounted for.

How You Can Help

We are now 37 percent funded and need $25,391 to complete this project.
Your support will directly fund materials, labor, water systems, and structural restoration.
No amount is too small. Every contribution moves us closer to completing a safe and fully restored home for these children.

Be Part of the Transformation

This is an opportunity to be part of something tangible.
Not just giving, but helping complete a full transformation.
Together, we can restore Rachel’s House and give these children the safe, stable environment they deserve.
