Rebuild Our Family Church and Home

My name is Julia.. I am creating this GoFundMe for my aunt Mary, who lost her home and church last night in a devastating fire. Some back story, this home has been in our family for over 30 years. My grandma purchased it decades ago with the sole purpose of leaving it behind for her kids and grandkids… To my aunt Mary and my uncle Jesse, who also lived in this home up until his recent passing in December of 2024, for them, this home was they’re pride and joy. Filled with so many memories, photos, furniture, and decades of family heirlooms.

This home also served as a church where my aunt opened her arms and heart to so many of her friends, family members, and people in the community. She faithfully held church and bible study in the very room where the fire started. Now, with everything she owns ruined, wet or destroyed, and a home unlivable, she has to start over and relocate until she can move back in. My aunt is in her 70s and on a fixed income. My cousin Christine has also been affected and has to relocate in the meantime as well. As a family, we always come together and do what we can for one another, but this is devastating. We've been through floods, Harvey to be exact, and her home has always bounced back. This is completely different and so unexpected.

Our family has faced immense loss in the last year, and this just feels so unfair for a woman who has given and continues to give so much to those around her. We know God has a plan, and thanks to him, my aunt and cousin made it out of this devastation safe.
