Tammy's YLF Rebuild Nepal Trip 2017
Donation protected
I am honorably blessed and excited to have been selected to go to Nepal through the Young Living Foundation to help with the continuing efforts to rebuild Nepal from the devastating April 2015 earthquake. Your generous donation will go toward helping with my remaining costs for my travels to Nepal. I will be departing on February 20th and returning March 6th. While on this service trip, I will be primarily be involved with construction-related tasks which involve the making and hauling of bricks, mixing mortar, and working with rebar, all while interacting with the families and children of Nepal. I would be so grateful for any donation you are willing to give to support my first ever missions trip to help the lives of others while also changing mine.
This is an update to my fundraiser: I realized that I should share with you my story on how I came to apply for this service trip. This past summer I attended the Young Living Convention in Salt Lake City, UT where I heard Nikki Davis, Director of Global Philanthropy, speak about the Young Living Foundation. It was when she was speaking about Nepal that something came over me. She said that even though there was a lot that had been done, there was still work to do and that they would be looking for voluteers to apply to help. I was brought to tears and my husband grabbed my hand and said "you should do it." That day, it was placed in my heart that I needed to apply for the service trip to Nepal when the opportunity arose. I felt very nervous and scared for I had never been on a service or mission trip before, much less in another country that far away. So I prayed about it often and was constantly working up my courage so that when the opportunity arose, I would apply.
Well the day came to put in my application and I hesitated as there were a lot of what if's that were running through my mind because now it was real. And things in my family life had changed since the summer that was making it difficult for me to say yes. I knew that the chances of me being selected were very slim as hundreds were applying for this service trip. So I figured, why not go ahead and do it. I also knew that, if I did not apply, I would be going against what had been placed in my heart that day-an affirmation to continue on a journey of serving and helping others with passion and love.
I am grateful for the love and support that I have already received, whether that has been by ways of a donation, words of advice, blessings, or encouragement. They are all things that will help me on my journey in Nepal.
Thank you,
