My name is Orville Palmer, I'm originally from Whitehouse, Westmoreland in Jamaica. I'm currently living in the United Kingdom and a serving member of HM Armed Forces but heart and roots are founded on the little Island that is Jamaica.

Background: Whitehouse comprises of several smaller communities with names such as: Culloden, Gordon, Rowe Town, Vietnam and others, just to name a few. I had the privilege to be brought up in both Gordon and Culloden.

I'm raising funds to help my family and community in Jamaica rebuild after the devastating effects of hurricane Melissa.

Even though my family are all ok in Jamaica, their homes have sustained significant damage with some flattened to the ground due to being built with wood and curragated Zinc for roofing. There are many other families within the community whose homes have not survived the onslaught brought by hurricane Melissa.

Even though i can group together with my family here in the UK and rebuild my family's home little by little overtime, I don't want this to be about just helping my family but to help the wider community that has nurtured me to be the person i am.

Raising any funds will help rebuild the community i used to once call my home.

For transparency, every penny of your donations will be accounted for and will only be spent when proper justification is received on request. I will provide you with regular updates along with photos showing where, what and who has benefited from your kindness.

You donations will be going to help rebuild homes, re-roofing homes, clearing the debris from paths and roadways, helping to provide food for those community that are less fortunate with provisions.

I'm not a wordsmith but I hope the above is clear as to what my aims and intentions are by creating this gofundme page. I don't know where this will lead but I can’t standby and not help my fellow jamaican and my community recovery from this devastating ordeal.

If you are not in a position to donate then please share far and wide.

Many thanks in advance for all your help and support.
