Rebuild Lives: Mike McCarver and son Josh's Fire Relief

Hi, my name is Alida Kinkaid and I am married to Mark Kinkaid who attended college with Mike McCarver. Mike and his son Josh experienced a devastating loss when a fire destroyed their home and vehicles in Normangee, Texas. We are putting together this fundraiser to assist Mike and Josh rebuild their lives.

On March 2, 2025, while Mike and Josh were returning from College Station, Mike received a call stating that the fire department was at his property in Normangee Texas. Mike had no way of knowing what had happened and how their lives would change from that call. As you can see form the photos, the property was a total loss. His house, both cars and everything they owned were gone. While on the phone with Mike, he told me that he literally had the clothes he was wearing, his son’s car and that was it. Everything that he had from his entire life was gone. His house, both vehicles, all of his possessions, his memories and all the belongings he had gathered along the years were gone in an instant.

Mike has spent the last 10 years taking care of his family and living in Normangee Texas. Being partially disabled and living on a fixed income, Mike has done everything he could to take care of his family with all he had. His door was always open to all his friends and family and Mike would always lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Mike also made sure no one would ever leave his property hungry.

After the total loss of everything he had, Mike is faced with the challenge of rebuilding his life from the ground up. He has moved into temporary public housing in College Station, Texas and trying to scratch out a way of putting things back together in the place he has called home for so long. We are putting together this fund raiser to help Mike rebuild not only his home but also his life. We are trying to raise funds to help replace the things Mike needs to start not only creating new memories but also a new opportunity for him and Josh.

The funds raised will help Mike and Josh begin rebuilding their lives. Specifically, the donations will go toward:

*Clearing their property of the charred remains from the fire.

*Replacing the vehicles, which were lost in the fire.

*Meeting their immediate needs, such as food, clothing, furniture, electronics, and essentials for their daily lives.
