Rebuild Lives for 66 Families in Need in Baroro, Phil.

Hello!

My name is Debbie and I am creating a GoFundMe to help raise money to help

fund for 66 families in a village located in Baroro, Bacnotan, La Union, Philippines, where most of my family grew up in.

On October 27, 2024, we learned that 66 families were forcefully required to leave their homes and watch law enforcement officials and demolition workers demolish 60+ homes - including 4 homes of my family. The land was set out be bought by a big corporation so with little notice and help, demolition day was planned.

While those family members are living here in the U.S., their home in the Philippines, is HOME AWAY FROM HOME. Some of my family members work tirelessly as grape workers throughout the year expecting to spend the off work season to go back home to the Philippines and fix up their homes and provide for their remaining loved ones who were left behind. As you could imagine, losing their homes to this demolition has brought nothing but pain and suffering to them but also worry of their neighbors in the village. Their hard work slowly taken away out of a decision that was out of their control.

There are families who still seek shelter with many staying in local school buildings and in temporary huts as government-owned land near the seaside. It does not help knowing that a typhoon has reached its way to the Philippines hitting that area too.

Amidst all of this happening, to the families and friendly neighbors of our village, we are hoping that this ongoing fundraiser can assist with anything that these families need from food, clothing, shelter and to simply, BUILD A NEW LIFE.
