Help Us Replace Laura’s Memorial Bench

Twenty years ago, we came together to honor the memory of our dear friend, Laura DeGree, with a memorial bench at the local soccer complex. Laura was a friend to everyone—her kindness, spirit, and love for life left an impact on all who knew her. Though she has been gone for two decades, her memory continues to live on through the lives she touched.

The soccer complex was a special place for Laura. As an avid soccer player and cross-country runner, she spent countless hours there, both on the field and at meets. That’s why we chose this location for her memorial bench—so that others could sit, reflect, and remember the amazing person she was.

Sadly, the bench was vandalized this past fall. Now, we are coming together again to replace it in its original location. We are open to suggestions on whether we replicate the original design or create something new to honor her legacy.

We need to raise $1,500 to cover the cost of the repaired bench and any related expenses. While there is no set deadline, we hope to have the bench in place for the summer soccer season. These funds will go directly to Brannon Memorial to fix the bench, and any remaining funds will be donated to the Dubuque Soccer Club Scholarship fund in Laura’s name.
