Rebuild Latrice’s Fire Damaged Home

We are Nik and Liv, and we are asking for your support so we can transform Latrice’s fire damaged home 100% for free! Our goal is to finish it. Completely. Furniture and everything!

Nik met Latrice while getting his hair cut. She shared some of her story about losing her home in a fire in August of 2021. Nik continued asking her more and more questions about it— without her having the slightest clue of who we are and how we help people. Since then, she has been living in the small laundry room of the home while trying to make ends meet as a hairdresser. She was incredibly positive, and shared how she has been teaching herself DIY projects since the fire and trying to put her home back together a small bit at a time. Recently, her brother fell upon hard times and she took him and his 11 year old daughter and 17 year old son in. The house has no walls or insulation. They put paper over the bare studs just to look more finished and provide the slightest level of insulation for the cold winter and hot summer.

She received some insurance money from the fire, but it was only insured for around $65,000, which was the value of the home when she purchased it. She’s used those funds for electrical work to be updated, some plumbing changes (like adding a small bathroom to a closet near her laundry room where she’s living) and a new roof, which she sadly was unknowingly ripped off on.

The home is structurally sound, but needs updates to everything. The damaged areas need to be removed and structurally updated, the walls and ceilings need to be insulated and all new drywall, new flooring, new lights, paint, and tons of other things which we will cover on our page.

Lattice is INCREDIBLY kind and deserving of this. She sobbed uncontrollably just from us telling her we wanted to help. This is a massive project and will take time— but the more we can raise, the more help we can get and speed up the process.
