Help Rebuild Our Family and Community After Hurricane Melissa

Hello everyone,

My name is Janelle, and I’m raising funds to help my family and the small, close-knit village community of John’s Hall, Montego Bay, Jamaica.

My mother was born and raised in this village, and we still have loved ones who live and work there today. As many of you know, Hurricane Melissa tore through Jamaica with devastating force — destroying homes, crops, and livelihoods. Lives have been lost, and entire communities have been left without shelter, electricity, or access to food and clean water.

Our family and neighbors in John’s Hall are among those hardest hit. The village is cut off from the city, and resources are extremely limited. Communication is spotty, and reaching our family has been an ongoing struggle.

Just last year, we rebuilt my cousin’s home, giving her a new roof, fresh renovations, and furniture to make it a safe and comfortable space. Sadly, Hurricane Melissa destroyed everything — the roof, the interior, and all that she had inside. We now have to start completely from scratch.

Our family has always tried to give back to this community. Through a small foundation created in loving memory of my great-grandparents, we’ve helped send children to school, donated supplies, and supported repairs to the local school building. Now, the people who have always cared for others are in desperate need of care themselves.
