The Eaton Fire has destroyed our family home in Altadena.
My mother and her siblings grew up here. It was the childhood home of my brothers and me. My grandparents took their last breaths here, and it was my uncle's home until the fire claimed it. Only the chimney remains; the chimney my grandfather would light fires and sit by as Grandma told us about our family connections and history.
My uncle Joe is an incredibly kind man who has remained an integral part of our family unit, supporting my brothers and me in any way he could with any endeavors we engaged upon. He cares for feral cats in the neighborhood. He's just a stand-up guy.
Aside from losing all of our family memorabilia and photos, my uncle lost his home and is now homeless. My Uncle Joe got out of his home and escaped being caught in the fire as the house across the street burned with only the clothes on his back. Thank God he survived.
Rebuilding is going to take time, and in the meantime, my uncle will need to rent a place while clearing the property and rebuilding happens. As the whole town is gone, we expect this to take quite a while, and the fire still burns.
We are asking for your generosity in helping support my uncle for basic necessities through this terrible loss. Not only is it the loss of a home, but the loss of our passed family members all over again.
Funds will be used for rent, clothes, tools, food, computer, gas, and basic life needs.
Thank you for your contributions; any little bit will help.
