My name is Wayne Williams, and I am the founder of STEM Uprising, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering communities in Jamaica through education, innovation, and resilience. I was born and raised in Clarendon, Jamaica, and like so many others, my heart is heavy seeing the devastation caused by Hurricane Melissa, which has left countless families displaced, homes destroyed, and communities struggling to recover.

As a proud Jamaican, I feel a deep responsibility to take action and help those most affected by this disaster. Through STEM Uprising, we are organizing a humanitarian aid response to provide immediate relief—food, clean water, clothing, and essential supplies—to families in need across the hardest-hit areas. Our goal is not just to respond to the immediate crisis, but also to help rebuild communities stronger than before, focusing on sustainable recovery and education for youth impacted by the storm.
