Rebuild Indigenous QTBIPOC Community Space

Donation protected
Hello all ~ I am an Resource Generation member-leader in Vermont who, through financial activist and organizing spaces, came into friendship with an Indigenous cultural strategist, resource organizer, community healer and artist who owns a home in New Orleans that was damaged during Hurricane Ida in 2021. The insurance company that provided coverage for the home folded before paying for repairs, which has left the house in a precarious state as it’s not able to be fully insured and is at risk for further damage during storm season.

This house has provided space for spiritual care, shelter for queer and trans youth, space for visiting queer and trans organizers and artists to land, and a hub for community organizing and togetherness. Its absence is a huge loss to those seeking safe spaces and places to heal in the southeast and beyond.

To cover the cost of the damage (which includes entire roof renovation) we need to raise $13,200+ ideally before August which is the peak of hurricane season. $13,200 is the base estimate for repairs but an unknown factor is how much rotten wood will need to be replaced once they start pulling up the roof tiles.

If you are able to offer financial support at this time, please do so!
Any extra funds raised will go to Imagine Water Works (https://www.imaginewaterworks.org), a trans and queer Indigenous and Black led org providing disaster prep and relief support for queer and trans folks in Louisiana (and all Louisianans).
