Rebuild Hope for Shaun's Family Post-Hurricane

Hi, I’m Brandi and the photo above is my brother Shaun, his wife Torie, and their children Breanna, Emily, Payton, and Addison. On September 27th, Hurricane Helene barreled through South Carolina and left catastrophic damage in her path.

My brother Shaun, his wife Torie, and their children lost everything. At 6 a.m., a huge tree fell into their bedroom while they lay asleep in bed. While Shaun was able to escape the room, Torie was trapped for several hours waiting on firefighters to rescue her. The children thankfully made it to safety, but burned in their minds was the image of seeing their mother’s feet in the debris with part of their home lying on top of her. This tree created so much damage, their home was a complete loss. They lived in an older mobile home that was well maintained, but they were unable to have it insured. Nonetheless, it was their home, where they watched their children grow and play as they got older. Now they are left with nothing. No money from an insurance company to rebuild, no money from disaster relief funds, just wet, ruined belongings.

As if this was not enough of a tribulation, one of the children is type 1 diabetic and has since been admitted into the hospital for complications from her illness. I am asking all of the people who read their story to PLEASE give to help to get them into a safe and dry home. I can't imagine all that they have been through in the last 48 hours and the feeling of not knowing where or how to begin to rebuild a life and home for not only themselves but especially for their children. I know that we are all facing our own damages right now, and if you are unable to give, I just ask that you please keep my brother and his family in your prayers as they try to navigate this new unknown.
