Rebuild for Peggy Walters: A Pillar of Strength Amidst Adversity

Hello kind souls,

We are reaching out today on behalf of a beloved community member, Peggy Walters, who has faced more than her share of challenges in recent years.

Peggy, a resilient senior citizen with a disability, has called Marshallville her home for over three decades. The house she cherished and built countless memories in was tragically destroyed when a tree fell on it. Adding to the devastation, the home was not insured, leaving her with the overwhelming task of rebuilding from the ground up.

Though her children have lovingly opened their homes to her, Peggy cannot imagine leaving Marshallville, the town that holds the echoes of her laughter, tears, triumphs, and heartaches. She desires to remain close to the memories of her youngest son, Donnell Phelps, who was taken from us too soon in a heroic act at Fort Valley State University in 2016. Additionally, in 2020, Peggy was diagnosed with breast cancer, a battle she continues to face head-on with admirable strength and grace.

Through all of life's ups and downs, Peggy has consistently been a beacon of hope, kindness, and generosity to many. Now, she needs our help.

Rebuilding her home is estimated to cost $120,000. If we can collectively raise half of this amount, her family has committed to financing the rest, ensuring the monthly payments remain manageable for Peggy on her fixed income. Every dollar raised will bring Peggy one step closer to reclaiming a piece of her life and to continue living in the place she calls home.
