Help Rebuild Our Family Home After Hurricane Melissa
Hello everyone,
This is Euan Baker and Shudeen Baker, proud Jamaicans currently working overseas in Jensen Beach, Florida. We are from Borewood, Thornton, St. Elizabeth, one of the worst hit areas. I’m writing this with a heavy heart after Hurricane Melissa tore through my hometown and left my family home severely damaged.
Our Story
Our house was more than just a building — it was the heart of our family, filled with memories, love, and hard work built over many years ( Took about 10 years ). Unfortunately, Hurricane Melissa changed everything in a matter of hours. The roof was completely ripped off, a large tree fell onto the house, and most of our furniture, flooring, and appliances were destroyed by wind and rain.
Seeing the photos and videos after the storm has been devastating. My family is trying their best to stay strong, but they’re struggling with the loss of not only their home, but also the sense of security that came with it.
Why I’m Asking for Help
I’m working overseas to help support my family, but the cost to rebuild after this kind of disaster is far beyond what I can handle alone. I’ve set up this GoFundMe to help us purchase rebuilding materials — lumber, roofing sheets, cement, plumbing supplies, and other essentials — to start restoring our home.
Additionally, one of my biggest goals is to set up a Starlink internet system at the property. Many people in our community have lost communication access after the hurricane. With a Starlink setup, families will be able to contact their loved ones abroad, access emergency information, and even support school children who need internet access for their education.
This isn’t just about rebuilding one home — it’s about restoring hope and connection for our community.
How the Funds Will Be Used
Your donations will go directly toward:
Roofing materials and structural repairs
Replacement of damaged flooring and furniture
Electrical and plumbing restoration
Starlink setup for community communication and emergency use
Basic household necessities lost in the storm
Every dollar will go toward helping my family and neighbors get back on their feet. I will personally ensure all funds are used transparently and share updates as we make progress.
How You Can Help
If you’re able to donate — no matter the amount — please know that your contribution makes a real difference. Even sharing this campaign with others helps us reach more people who might be able to lend support.
It’s hard to start over, but with your help, we can rebuild our home, reconnect our community, and bring back a sense of stability after this unimaginable loss.
From the bottom of my heart,
Thank you for your kindness, support, and prayers. If you need further info you can contact us at [phone redacted] or [phone redacted]
With gratitude,
