I’m coordinating direct relief for families in Westgreen/Catherine Hall (Montego Bay) — my home community — as well as many other community areas among the hardest hit by Hurricane Melissa. This effort ensures aid reaches the people who need it most, with full transparency and community-led coordination.

Hello, my name is Shannon Allen-Palmer and I’m originally from Westgreen/Catherine Hall, Montego Bay, Jamaica. I now live in Vancouver, Canada, but Jamaica will always be home. I’m organizing relief efforts for my home community in Westgreen/Catherine Hall, Montego Bay, along with two other severely impacted communities — one in Westmoreland and another in Trelawny.

Hurricane Melissa has left countless families without homes, food, and basic supplies. While aid is beginning to arrive, coordination on the ground remains one of the biggest challenges. Larger organizations often face logistical hurdles that cause uneven distribution — some areas receive overlapping help while others, especially deep rural or cut-off communities, are still waiting.

This GoFundMe is focused on direct, verified, and transparent relief, ensuring that families who are often overlooked receive the essentials they urgently need.

Funds raised will go toward:

Purchasing and shipping essential supplies (food, hygiene items, baby care, bedding, clothing, etc.)

Supporting verified families in Westgreen/Catherine Hall, Westmoreland, and Trelawny with rebuilding materials and essentials

Covering logistics and shipping costs for crates and barrels directly sent to local coordinators in each community

I’m personally managing all purchases, shipments, and tracking. Donors are invited to stay tuned to my platform to receive updates, photos, and receipts showing exactly how contributions are used. I am coordinating with church groups as well as family, friends, and community members living in these areas who are directly involved in the distribution and coordination of aid.
