Hi, my name is Christoff studniczka, and I live in Belmont, Westmoreland, Jamaica one of the communities hit hardest by Hurricane Melissa.
It’s now been two weeks since the hurricane, and many families here are still struggling to recover. Homes were blown apart — roofs ripped off, wooden structures destroyed and people are now asking for materials to rebuild or even just a tarpaulin to cover what’s left of their homes. The rebuilding needs to start sooner rather than later, before conditions get even harder.
My own home was damaged, and my truck, which I’ve been using to help my community, was also affected the back glass and rear light were broken, and my electronics inside were damaged. Still, I’ve continued using it to deliver food and supplies, working alongside World Central Kitchen and other caring individuals who are helping our area recover. I also guide volunteers and donors around to show where help is most needed.
Right now, I’m asking for support to:
- Repair my truck so I can keep making supply runs
- Cover gas and generator costs to stay mobile and powered
- Purchase building materials like zinc, cement, wood, nails, hammers, shovels, and tarpaulins for families trying to rebuild
- Find helping hands — if you or anyone you know is willing to volunteer time or skill to help rebuild homes, we’d be deeply grateful
Every donation and every bit of support goes directly toward helping Belmont back on their feet.
Thank you for standing with us and helping to restore hope, one home at a time.
