Rebuild BANU Restaurant: Support Samira's Family

Dearest community, on Oct 7, 2024 my dear friend, award-winning Iranian/ Canadian journalist Samira Mohyeddin was the victim of a horrific attack when her family run Iranian restaurant BANU, which has been serving the community in Toronto for 19 years, was vandalized forcing them to close down while police investigate and they reconstruct.

Many of us know Samira as a force of truth and integrity on social media for her uncompromising reporting on the war on Gaza. Over the past year she has been the target of much vitriol and now this violent act against her and her family on Oct 7.

This year we have seen many pro-Israeli as well as pro-Palestinian businesses and individuals becoming targets. We cannot advocate against violence while committing it.

I come to you all as a member of the global community dedicated to justice and peace to ask for your help for Samira and her family to recover from this great loss and financial setback so that BANU can once again open its doors and continue to serve the community.
