Title: Rebuilding Alston and Surrounding Communities After Hurricane Melissa
Story:
My name is Jackie. I'm a Jamaican living in the United States, originally from Alston, Clarendon. When Hurricane Melissa swept through our community, it left behind more than just physical destruction — it shattered homes, displaced families, and interrupted lives that were already built on hard work, love, and resilience. In just a few hours, so much of what we took for granted was gone: roofs torn away, businesses flooded, and streets we once walked every day now unrecognizable.
But if there’s one thing that stands stronger than any storm, it’s the spirit of our people.
Neighbors have opened their doors to one another, shared food and supplies, and checked on those most in need. Even in the face of loss, we’ve seen incredible acts of kindness and unity. This GoFundMe was created to support families and individuals who are struggling to get back on their feet — to help rebuild homes, replace essential belongings, and restore a sense of normalcy after so much uncertainty.
Every donation, no matter how small, goes directly toward relief and recovery efforts right here in our community. Your generosity will help provide shelter, food, clothing, and rebuilding materials to those who need them most.
Together, we can bring hope back to Alston and Surrounding Communities and show that even after the storm, we rise again — stronger, together.
Thank you for your compassion, your prayers, and your support.
