Dear Family, Friends and Supporters,

My name is Anika Thompson and I have the honor of serving as the PTA President of Alcar Academy based in Jamaica. Today, I am reaching out on behalf of our parents, students, and dedicated staff with a heavy heart and an urgent plea for help.

As you may know, Hurricane Melissa recently brought severe devastation to Montego Bay,Jamaica and our beloved Alcar Academy was among the hardest hit.

Established in January 2018, our school has always been a safe haven and a beacon of learning for children ages 2 to 18. Now, we face damage that threatens our ability to continue providing the quality education and supportive environment our children deserve.

Our main building housing the Administrative Office, Principal’s Office, Grades 2 and 3 classrooms, Sick Bay/Uniform Room/Nurse’s Station, and student bathrooms—has lost its roof entirely.

Beyond the structural destruction, we have also lost essential equipment and resources, including:

As a privately owned institution, Alcar Academy does not receive government or religious sponsorship. Tuition fees alone sustain our operations, leaving us with limited means to recover from a disaster of this magnitude.

Today, we humbly ask for your support. Our children’s education has already been disrupted, and rebuilding quickly is crucial. Any assistance financial, material, or shared through spreading our message will make a tremendous difference in restoring our school and helping us reopen our doors as soon as possible.
