Dear Friends and Family,
I am an American Heritage Girl, and I am working on my Stars and Stripes Project. I have been a member of American Heritage Girls since I was 10 years old. I’ve earned badges like horsemanship, fishing, and kid care. Some of my best memories have been made at AHG. And best of all, I’ve learned during my time in this group how to be a woman of integrity.
The Stars and Stripes Project in American Heritage Girls is the highest award a girl can earn. For my project at First Christian Church in Pleasant Hill, I will build 4 garden boxes. 3 will be 6 x 8 ft., and 1 will be 6 x 5 ft. I will also plant 6 privacy bushes in front of the church’s office windows. First Christian Church wants to provide the local homeless with a source of healthy and organic food, so they came to me and asked me if I wanted to take on this project. I agreed to help without any hesitation.
However, since I am in charge of this project, I am responsible for raising the money needed to complete it. The total project costs $2,500, and the majority of the money is needed for 729 pewter retaining wall blocks. While $2,500 sounds like a lot of money, if 20 people donate $25, 20 more people donate $50, and 10 people donate $100 I would have all the funds I need.
Donating to this project would mean the world not only to me, but to First Christian Church and the local homeless community as well.
Best, Rebekah
