We Are Latinas Inspiring Futures Together (LIFT) , a nonprofit run by Latina immigrants for Latina immigrants. We’ve walked through confusion, fear, language barriers — and now we’re determined to make sure no woman has to face that journey alone.

✈️ Why This Matters

Every year, thousands of Latina women arrive in Canada with hope… and fear. They don’t know how to apply for essential services (Health Card, SIN), enrol their children in school, learn English, or find a job. They risk isolation, exploitation and mental strain. We plan to change that — with step-by-step action, not just good intentions.

Our Goal

To fully support 100 Latina newcomers during their first 90 days in Canada with practical tools, vital knowledge, emotional backing, and income pathways to ensure a dignified and empowered start.

How We’ll Use Your Donation

Our program is structured around 5 high-impact pillars that include all the vital training and support:

1. Orientation & Essential Services

Spanish Welcome Survival Kit (print + PDF) covering:

How to apply for a Health Card, SIN, school enrollment, phone plan, and housing

How to register for emergency services (911) and basic medical access

Live workshops and video tutorials on navigating the Canadian healthcare system

Interactive map with real locations: community centres, health clinics, libraries, newcomer hubs

2. English Language & Communication

Guide: “Where to Study English for Free (LINC/ESL) + step-by-step registration”

Video lessons for functional English: banking, groceries, public transit, childcare, emergencies

Printable phrasebook for everyday usage and confidence building

3. Job Search & Employment Support

Workshop: “How to Find Your First Job in Canada”

Hands-on sessions: writing Canadian‑style résumés and cover letters

Job portal guidance: using platforms like Indeed, JobBank

Tips to identify and avoid fraudulent job offers

LIFT Employment Match Board: matching newcomer skills with community‑friendly employers

4. Financial Literacy & Planning

Workshop: “Managing Your Money in Canada”

How to open a no-fee bank account

Handling debit, credit, and avoiding predatory loans

Creating a monthly budget with downloadable Excel template

Tips for saving, sending remittances safely and preventing financial exploitation

5. Mental Health, Confidence & Belonging

Monthly Emotional Support Circles (virtual or in-person) to discuss migration loss, loneliness, and stress

Strategies for journaling, mindfulness and self-care routines

Access to Spanish‑speaking mental health services and community resources

Workshops to reconnect with personal purpose and talents

Pathways to become peer mentors for future newcomers
