Readathon for Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention - March ‘25
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Caoimhe. Back in 2022 I completed a readathon for Limerick Treaty Suicide Prevention in honour of my best friend, Saoirse, who passed away nearly four years ago now. There is not a day that goes by where I don’t think of her. Her death has forever left a mark on me. But I am also mostly left with beautiful memories of our friendship. One of the things Saoirse and I bonded over was our love for reading. She always had a book at hand and a pencil in her ear, enthusiastically highlighting passages with a glint of joy in her eyes. She was so intelligent and had such an eclectic taste in books. I was always in awe of her. I wanted to honour her on her one year anniversary by doing the shared thing that we love. That time I raised €370, which was incredible and it still makes me emotional to think about. I have decided this year to bring the readathon back for her fourth anniversary, all the while raising awareness for this amazing charity
About LTSP:
They are a volunteer group that patrol the bridges of Limerick City, offering support to those who are distressed or suicidal.
When?
The month of March, 1st - 31st, leading into the anniversary of her passing.
How?
Read as many books as you can and donate what you can. Whether it’s a euro or two - every little bit counts. And if you can’t afford to donate, simply spread the word. Audiobooks, physical books - they all count. LTSP were so thankful the last time I presented them the cheque and I would love to be able to do this for them again. I would love for people to join in and use the hashtag #ReadathonForLTSP. Thank you all for your support
