RB10K 2024 for The 'Our Amy' Foundation
Donation protected
On Sunday 3rd November 2024, for the second year running a group of us will be running the Richard Burton 10K to raise awareness and funds for The ‘Our Amy’ Foundation
For this years run we will be donating 50% of the monies we raise to CALM (Campaign For Living Miserably)
For those who haven't heard of CALM, they are a suicide prevention charity uniting people against suicide every day on a mission to help people end their misery, not their lives.
They provide life-saving services, information and advice to help anyone struggling with life to navigate the issues that can make us feel miserable. They campaign to make sure everyone has the knowledge and skills to unite against suicide.
Their website has amazing resources and details of a helpline to call and live chat to contact if you are struggling or know of someone struggling to give guidance to help
CALM’s website is here for more information of what support they have to offer
The other 50% of the monies will go towards our foundation
Here is a bit of background of what we aim to achieve through The ‘Our Amy’ Foundation
In July of 2022 we sadly lost Our Amy.
Since the day she passed away, all who knew Amy are still struggling to come to terms with the devastating loss. Amy was a mother, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, auntie, niece, cousin and friend to many. She will never ever be forgotten and to honour her memory in 2023 we decided to create a foundation in her name.
As Amy's family and friends we have lots of ideas of how to hopefully help and support those who have been affected by a similar loss.
Like many others, Amy battled with her mental health from a young age. She overcame a lot of struggles.
Amy absolutely loved keeping fit. Everyone who knew and loved Amy knew that the gym was her happy place, she was the best version of herself when she was training.
Before she passed, Amy was about to enter her second-year degree in university to qualify as a mental health nurse. She always said that she knew how those with mental health issues felt so she wanted to make a career for herself helping those with the same struggles that she had.
Our ultimate aim in starting up this foundation is to support families locally that have been affected by losing a loved one to suicide.
This is a sensitive subject that probably isn't spoken about openly enough. So many struggle with their mental health one way or another, and in starting up this foundation our hope is that we can help those who have been effected in the same way that we have ❤ which we know is what Amy would have wanted ✨️️️
