The Community Kitchen of Santiago: We All Support One Another

In Guatemala, hunger is a constant reality for a large percentage of the population. It comes as the result of hundreds of years of dispossession and state neglect of the people's right to health and food security. This already critical situation has gotten worse with the spread of a global pandemic and its accompanying economic constraints. Faced with this crisis, we plan to support one another and be in solidarity with all of our comrades in Santiago who are living with hunger and who are unable to take the necessary measures to protect their health.

With your support, we will be able to meet basic food needs in high-need households, which are indicated with white flags.
* With $50, we can prepare at least 50 portions of prepared foods.
* With  $100, we can give a solidarity bag with basic supplies to at least 10 people.
* With $100, we can provide 150 masks to people who are unable to buy one and who have had to share one between several people.

We are asking for you support to continue forward with this initiative!!

We are so thankful to be part of a growing network of Community Kitchens in Guatemala and El Salvador. The proliferation of these Community Kitchens was inspired by the example and efforts of the first Community Kitchen in Central America, which started with the cafe, Rayuela. While needs are growing, so too is the desire of people across Central America to support one another!
