Hi, I'm Raymond, a boy scout from Troop 449. I started my scouting career 5 years ago, in 5th grade. After entering Scouts BSA (called Boy Scouts of America back then), I stagnated for 2 years, not making much progress. However, after I then experienced an epiphany, where I suddenly realized that the requirements that I had been dreading to complete had not been as difficult as I had thought. After some time, I had been able to quickly climb the ranks, and now here I stand, a Scout working on my Eagle rank.  To achieve Eagle rank, I must complete an Eagle project, one that I am here to talk with you about. My Eagle project is to give back to the community by building a deck for the Elks Lodge 2121, a charitable foundation that serves as a meeting center for veterans. The Elks Lodge 2121 needs a deck because ground at the sports area that the veterans like to frequent is sloped, causing the spectator benches there to easily tip over, which can result in serious injuries to senior veterans. 

The deck’s purpose is to mitigate a hazard and prevent serious injuries that may occur, but I need your help to build it! There is one major danger hazard at the area: the ground there is sloped, and without a deck to even out the ground, the spectator benches placed there easily tip over, which will result in heavy injuries. As the Elk's Lodge is mainly composed of senior veterans, such injuries are devastating and will result in hospitalization. Thus, a deck is needed to prevent such injuries. To build the deck, I need funding to buy the materials needed. The deck that I will build will eliminate the hazard by providing a flat surface for the benches. However, to build the deck, I will need to raise money to buy supplies to make the deck into a reality. Because the deck will require a sizable amount of money, $6,100 in total, I need many donations to make it work. I have been using GoFundMe as a place where people and organizations can help give back to the community. Please help support senior veterans and give back to the community!

However, due to an upcoming sport competition, we have until 6/11/2021 to reach our goal.  With a sports competition, a lot more senior veterans are going to be using the site, and the hazard has larger chances of inflicting injuries. The deck needs to be built to prevent this! The project is urgent, so please do what you can!
