Doctors worked for nearly two hours to get Ray's heart going again in early August [2025]. He spent more than a month in the ICU, then moved to an acute care facility to keep fighting.

Since then, Ray's road became harder. An infection set in, and he ultimately lost his lower leg. He's now facing recovery from both the cardiac arrest and the amputation at the same time — [rehab/physical therapy, learning to walk again, ultimately being fitted for a prosthetic, adjusting to daily life].

There have been real moments of progress. Not long ago, Ray spoke a full sentence for the first time in two months — a huge step forward, and a sign of how hard he's fighting.

Ray is a lifelong friend to so many of us, his friendship and compassion have always run deep. If you know Ray, you have at least a handful of wonderful memories...and some of us are lucky enough to have a truckload of them! Today Ray needs the same support he's always given others.

Funds raised are going toward [medical bills / prosthetic costs / in-home care or home modifications / rehab and therapies. Every dollar helps him focus on healing instead of worrying about the bills piling up.
