Raven’s Journey Forward

My name is Valaencia Thompson, and I am fundraising for my youngest sister, Raven Christian.

As an eldest sister of three, I have never wanted anything more than for my sisters to know they have support. We are a very close bunch, and we believe in asking for help when we need it. So, I am asking for support on behalf of my grieving sister, after the sudden loss of her husband.

On January 1, 2023, Justin Christian (26) passed away suddenly due to unknown causes. This tragic loss has caused ripples of grief & devastation to our family, especially his wife, Raven.

Losing a spouse is such a layered experience. While it is filled with emotional grief, there is also another very real reality.

Losing a partner is also losing their support and financial contributions that directly impact your day-to-day life. As young newlyweds, Justin and Raven had plans, and were building their life together, and now Raven has to start over.

While Justin did have life insurance that thankfully covered his funeral expenses, it was not enough to fill the financial void that his absence leaves behind for his wife.

In this very vulnerable time of healing, we would like to rally around Raven and cover her with our love and financial support as she takes some time to heal, and figure out her next steps. Raven, is full time employed, but does not have paid bereavement.

Your contributions will help cover living expenses and basic necessities over the next couple of months.

This is obviously not an easy ask, but it is a necessary one. So many of you have been generous in the outpouring of your love. Many have asked, what is needed and how you may help. This is a way that would be more than appreciated.
