Hi we're the Mississippi Reproductive Freedom Fund,
We're a reproductive justice organization based in Jackson, MS.
Currently we are engaged in black/brown solidarity work with the undocumented community here in Mississippi who have been impacted by the cruel, inhumane and unjust actions by our government.
We are seeing large needs for emergency support that are going unmet by other organizations. That's no shade the need is HUGE. Just do the math. If each person impacted (680 detained and at least 120 fired) were given an average of $500 in support each we're talking a total of $400,000 in funding.
People have rent, food, medical and household needs to fill. We know we can not meet all these needs but one specific need we want to assist with is culturally relevant food support.
This funding is specifically for assisting families in purchasing groceries in community from local businesses that serve the community. These businesses are also taking a hit at this time as well as assisting with other needs as determined by organizers from impacted communities. This is a concern we've heard raised repeatedly on the ground.
We are not interested in gatekeeping what people need and how people determine what is most important for themselves.
Thank you for your support and signal boosting of this effort.
So far we have moved of $3000 worth of supplies and $5000 in cash rapid response support.
We hope to do so much more and hold space and resources to establish long term immigrant led movement building.
LET'S DO IT!!!
