Over the weekend (6th/7th December 2025) someone broke into the garage at the youth club at Risedale School, Catterick Garrison where RAMP (Richmond Area Motorcycle Project) is based and stole four Honda CRF125 off-road motorcycles. One smaller bike that was also taken was found abandoned in the woods nearby.
RAMP is a volunteer-led, community project which has been running for about 20 years, and relies on grants and charity donations to deliver ongoing interventions for 13-19 year olds. The volunteers work closely with North Yorkshire Youth, Police Community Support, Youth Justice, Early Help and Change Direction to teach young people in our local community road safety, vehicle maintenance and how to ride a motorcycle safely and lawfully. Many of the young people we work with continue to support the project as young helpers, and go on to pass their CBT and full licence in time.
We cannot continue the project if we don't have any motorcycles, and even if our bikes are recovered, they will need to be mechanically checked and serviced, and probably repaired. If found, it is possible that the police will keep the bikes for evidence for up to a year as well! This is a plea to anyone in the local area who would like to support us to keep running this incredibly worthwhile project. We appreciate that it is close to Christmas and funds may be tight, but if everyone who sees this page is able to donate just a small amount - maybe don't buy your next planned cup of coffee in order that you can help us out - that would be HUGELY appreciated. New bikes will cost about £2,500 each - we will of course be submitting as many grant applications as we can, but anything that you can afford would be appreciated.
Thank you so much in advance!
