Fundraiser: Amigos de Sierra Leona
Donation protected
Dear friends,
It has been a rough couple of years for the planet. The pandemic, which began in 2019, evolved into something that none of us would have expected. Since 2020, nothing could be taken for granted. Every moment became just a bit more precious and thoughtful. Some things might never be experienced again. That is why we – Miguel, Paulius and Julius – decided to go on an adventure. On something we had in mind for a longer time. We decided to take part in a 9000km-long amateur rally from Budapest in Hungary, to Freetown, Sierra Leone.
This idea of a rally started with having a great adventure in mind. Friends, cars and deserts. Maps, culture and sights. But digging deeper into it, we found a desire to connect it with something that could bring happiness not only to us, but also others. That is how our Rally Post idea was born.
Rally Post is the name of our team. Why? Because our idea is to use the environment of a rally and connect communities that otherwise would never know about each other. That is why we teamed up with a non-governmental organization Amigos de Sierra Leona. Created in 2010, the organization focuses on improving the living conditions of children. They do this by running a school, medical center, a meal programme and an orphanage in a rural village of Ma-Tindi (https://goo.gl/maps/moE2AbkqVm9XAXos5). Currently they have 187 children attending their school who receive education, medical care and free school feeding program. And for this we need your help.
We therefore ask you for two things:
1. Contribute to the brighter future of the children in Sierra Leone by donating and
2. Dedicate them a postcard to inspire their happiness right now.
Many of us know the excitement when a surprise-postcard arrives in our hands. We believe that part of that excitement can be experienced even without a personal dedication. Therefore, we would ask you to send a postcard to the address which you can access through the following form:
https://airtable.com/shrSD8XOv1wKBEDlo
Until 15th of March, 2022, we will be collecting the postcards. After that we will pack them in a post-box in our car and take them personally to the kids in the school and orphanage of Amigos de Sierra Leona.
There are no requirements for the postcards. It might display a place you live. It might have a poem written on it. It might have a map, a car or a whale with wings. It might be a vocabulary of your language (most of them do speak English). Whatever you think kids would enjoy.
The donations that we collect will be used on the ongoing projects of Amigos de Sierra Leona. Depending on the raised sum, we will be able to contribute to a new playground, a chicken shack or mosquito nets. All these projects require sums of around 2000 – 3000€ each. We do hope to fund at least one of them.
We offer two things in return:
1. We will add your name in the list of supporters on our car and
2. After the rally ends we will send you a digital postcard created from moments documented during the rally.
You can also follow our journey on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RallyPostB2B
Let us not get apart because of distances, pandemics or beliefs. Let the connections sparkle!
Thank you again for your contribution to this project and we wish you a calm winter,
The Rally Post team
