Help Support Knox’s Fight Against AML

Our sweet Knox has officially been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). In what feels like the blink of an eye, life for Knox and his mom, Heaven, has completely changed.

Knox is a sweet, lovable, rambunctious 6-year-old with a huge personality and so much life ahead of him. Like any other little boy his age, he should be spending his days learning, playing, laughing, and simply being a kid. Instead, he and his mom are now beginning a journey no family ever expects to face.

Knox’s treatment is expected to last at least six months. Throughout that time, he will undergo intensive treatment that will require him to spend approximately three weeks at a time in the hospital, followed by about two weeks receiving outpatient care, with this cycle continuing throughout his treatment. It will be a long and difficult road, but Knox will have his mom beside him every step of the way.

Heaven is a single mother who works at an elementary school, and her world has understandably shifted overnight. Right now, her greatest priority has to be Knox—being by his side during hospital stays, taking him to appointments and treatments, caring for him during the days they are able to be home, and giving him the comfort and security that only a mom can provide.

Unfortunately, cancer does not pause everyday responsibilities. While Heaven focuses on helping her son fight AML, the financial responsibilities of everyday life will continue. Missing work, traveling to and from treatment, meals, transportation, household expenses, and the many unexpected costs that come with having a seriously ill child can quickly become overwhelming.

We are creating this GoFundMe in hopes of taking even a small portion of that burden off Heaven’s shoulders. No mother should have to choose between being beside her sick child and worrying about how the bills will be paid. Our hope is to give Heaven the ability to make Knox’s treatment and recovery her main priority without carrying the full weight of the financial stress that comes along with it.
