Help Keep This Beautiful Family in the Home and Community They’ve Built With Love
Hi, I’m Sam. I live in Kearney, Nebraska.
Hi friends, neighbors, and kind strangers —
I’m writing this on behalf of the most extraordinary family I’ve ever had the privilege to live near. If you’ve ever had neighbors who make the whole street feel warmer, more generous, and more alive—you know how rare that is. This family is that rarity. And now they need our help to stay in the home and neighborhood they’ve poured their hearts into.
Here’s the situation:
After the passing of the original homeowner, the guarantors of the property have decided to sell. The family currently living there—who have rented and cared for the home lovingly for years—has been given the opportunity to buy it. But they need a down payment by August 1st to make that dream a reality. If they can’t raise the funds in time, they’ll be forced to leave the home they’ve made their own—and we’ll all lose something truly irreplaceable.
So let me tell you about them.
The wife is the head chef at one of our local hospitals, working long hours to nourish patients, staff, and her community every single day. She still finds time—every holiday, without fail—to hand-deliver homemade treats to her neighbors. I’m talking actual bakery-level joy bombs. The kind that make you believe in people again.
Her husband is a fellow musician and stay-at-home dad, homeschooling their son Walter with patience, purpose, and creativity. Walter is one of the most kind, curious, and bright kids you’ll ever meet—because he’s been raised in a home overflowing with music, love, and respect.
And then there’s Ozzy the dog, who deserves a campaign of his own for being an absolute legend.
This is a family that gives. Constantly. Quietly. Without asking for anything in return. And now they’re facing the unthinkable: losing their home unless we help them secure a down payment.
We need to raise [please just help one dollar counts please these are the best neighbors ever] by August 1st. Every dollar will go toward securing their future in the home—and community—they’ve helped make so special.
If you’ve ever wished you could do something tangible, something real, to help good people stay rooted… this is your chance.
Let’s not let a technicality—or a timeline—be what uproots a family who’s done nothing but invest in the lives of everyone around them.
And as the wife told me herself (with a smile): “Well, I guess it’s either this or rob a bank.”
Let’s make sure she doesn’t have to turn to a life of crime. If she does, I’ll be the Thelma to her Louise.
Donate what you can. Share widely. And let’s keep the music, the food, the laughter, and the love right here, where it belongs.
With gratitude,
Sam Jenny
