Rally for Tate's Heart Surgery and Recovery

Jaden and Anisa Nyman welcomed their second son, Tate, on January 3rd, 2023. In the womb and since birth, Tate has faced incredibly tough challenges. He was diagnosed with Congenital Heart Disease, an Unbalanced AV Canal, Atrioventricular Valve Insufficiency, Congenital Mitral Regurgitation, and other associated conditions. At just 3 days old, Tate underwent emergency surgery to place a PA band, which tightened an artery to slow blood flow. He was transferred from the Geisinger Danville NICU to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia NICU for his first surgery.

Tate received his second open-heart surgery to repair a valve and stop leakage, but unfortunately, the surgery was not as effective as hoped. He continues to experience difficulties with fatigue, reduced blood flow, and a purplish coloring around his mouth, fingers, and toes. Tate spent the first 10 months of his life in the NICU, and at 11 months, he was placed on hospice care. Now, at 22 months, Tate is still on hospice, receiving weekly nursing visits and Early Intervention Services for feeding, speech, and physical/occupational concerns.

Tate’s doctors believe a third surgery is necessary to improve his heart condition and give him a better chance at a more normal life. This surgery is scheduled for January 22, 2025, at Boston Children's Hospital. The family plans to drive to Boston and remain there for Tate's surgery and long recovery.

Since Tate has been home, Anisa has stayed by his side 24/7, unable to work due to the intensive care he requires. Jaden will also be taking time off work and will be unemployed during Tate’s recovery. Given their challenging situation, we are hoping to offer them some support.
