Help Officer Sue on Her Road to Recovery
If you’re lucky enough to know Sue Parkes, you know a woman who has always shown up for others. Lovingly called "Officer Sue" by many, she was Sparta’s first female police officer. After leaving Sparta Police Department in 2015 Officer Sue did not turn away from service. She went to work at Reverend George Brown Elementary School and as an armed security guard at Alpine Elementary School. Sue has always been committed to her community.
She’s also a beloved wife, mother, friend, and “Memaw” to seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her warm heart, vivacious spirit and tireless dedication to family, friends, and community have touched countless lives.
On October 28th, Sue’s life took an unexpected turn. While visiting Pittsburgh to see her beloved Steelers, she suffered a severe spinal injury that has left her in recovery to gain back her mobility. After undergoing major surgery on October 29th, Sue is recovering at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. The road to recovery will be long and challenging, requiring extensive rehabilitation and immense family support.
Despite the challenges ahead, we remain hopeful for Sue's recovery. Recently retired and having moved to Florida for sunshine, family, and golf, Sue and her husband Bob have been enjoying life to the fullest, traveling and spending time with loved ones.
Please join us in helping Officer Sue regain her strength. Whether you can donate, share her story, or keep Sue in your prayers, every gesture of support brings hope. Let’s rally around her as she’s always done for others.
