This GoFundMe is a shining example of community spirit, rallying around our beloved Michael Griggs in his time of need. On Wednesday evening, November 19, 2025, Michael's selfless nature was put to the ultimate test at the San Fernando train station. As we all know, Michael's unwavering dedication to his work is truly inspiring, and that day was no exception. After being dropped off at the train station around 6:30 pm, Michael noticed a man on the train tracks, putting himself in harm's way. Without hesitation, Michael's innate sense of safety and concern for others compelled him to intervene, urging the man to get off the tracks. Tragically, the man responded with violence, charging at Michael with a pipe and striking him on the head multiple times. Fortunately, there were good Samaritans nearby who apprehended the man, and Michael received the medical attention he needed.

Michael was rushed to Olive View Hospital, where he was treated for a laceration on his forehead, bruising along his upper body, black eyes, a swollen left ear, and minor scratches. Despite the severity of his injuries, Michael's resilience and strength shone through. He received 7 staples for the gash on his forehead and underwent a series of tests, including X-rays and scans. Throughout his 4-day hospital stay, family and friends rallied around him, ensuring he received the best care possible.

This GoFundMe campaign is a testament to the power of community and our collective desire to support one of our own in his time of need. The funds raised will help cover Michael's medical expenses, including the cost of replacing his motorized chair, which was damaged during the attack. We will also use the funds to replace his accessories and equipment, including his cell phone and glasses among other necessities.

Michael's generosity, kindness, and compassion have touched countless lives, and now it's our turn to give back. He has a gift for making everyone feel seen, heard, and valued, and his presence in our lives is a precious gift.
