Rally for Corado's Family: Hard Times
Donation protected
Hello, Boston area friends and relatives,
News is more than something we watch before bed. In early March, a many-year handyman and painter in our community, was detained by ICE. This winter, Corado was regularly visiting my 100-year-old father's house in Newton to clear snow and ice. He had repaired gutters there, filled animal holes. He has built a patio, done much much more, at my sister Emily's house in Lexington as well as at many other Lexington homes. He lives in Waltham.
We must all recognize the community we are and how interdependent we are. It was like that when my grandparents came, as well. We must take care of each other. Please read Corado's story, sent by his wife. I offered to raise funds to help the family get through this time.
"I hope that you are having a great night. My name is Ana Galvez, I am Jose Corado's wife.
"First off, I would like to say that I deeply appreciate your kindness towards my family. It fills me with joy and emotions knowing that there are people that admire, and respect my husband Corado. I accept your intentions of the GoFundMe, it's something that my family and I would benefit from immensely.
"Corado was giving a ride to one of his workers when ICE stopped him. They asked him for his license, and that's when they saw that in about 2003 he was caught under the influence in Maryland, many years ago. Since then he has stopped drinking and is now over 2 years sober.
"Due to the new laws with immigration now they find motive behind anything to separate families. Economically we weren't ready for something like this, especially because right now is the time where work is slow.
"He has his social security work permit. Last year in 2024 we had the blessing of going to Guatemala after not going in 23 years. I was able to be with my mother through her open heart surgery, and through all of it Corado was there for me. He was my rock through all of it, with the kids and making sure that I was safe, and well. When we came back in July of 2024, we re-entered the US legally. Therefore we don't understand why this happened.
"This has been the hardest challenge we have had to face as a family. My two daughters and my little boy miss him dearly. We are praying to god that his lawyer can do something to get him out on bail.
"My family, Keyri Corado Galvez, Keyla Corado Galvez, Killian Corado Galvez, and I Ana Galvez appreciate everything everyone has done to help us in these difficult times. Words will never be able to express what everyone has done, means to us. We will forever be eternally grateful to you all."
Let's all pitch in an help take some financial strain off of the family during this painful time.
Thank you very much.
