Raise The Roof - VCCI Capital Campaign

Let’s “RAISE THE ROOF” for our VCCI Clubhouse. We need your help to begin overdue repairs and to replace the roof to prevent further damage.  This GoFundMe account provides a safe way for you to donate. Contributions from businesses are tax deductible as advertising expense and those businesses will receive special recognition from the VCCI. Thank you in advance for pitching in to make our clubhouse great again!

During the 2020 Fall Member’s Meeting, the Victoona Civic Association (VCCI) Board assembled a volunteer Capital Campaign “Committee” made up of board members & non-board members to investigate the current needs & the desired improvements to the Clubhouse. The Committee was also tasked with looking into possible ways of raising the funds needed for the repairs/improvements.  The Committee met initially to survey the Clubhouse condition, prioritize the repairs & discuss ideas for improving the use & function of the clubhouse.  It was decided that the project should be separated into phases.

Phase I: Immediate Needs for 2021
1.     Replacing the Roof & Gutters
2.     Repairing & Updating the Electrical System
3.     Replacing the Interior Ceiling due to Water Damage & General Wear
4.     Improving Drainage around the Building

Phase II: Aesthetic & Functional Improvements
1.     Install New Door Lock(s)
2.     Redesign the Front Facade to Improve Access to Member’s Room
3.     Kitchen & Bar Improvements/Renovation
4.     Interior Paint

More detailed information can be obtained on the VCCI website home page (http://vcci.cc ) in the VCCI Clubhouse Renovation Study Revised 01-17-2021.

Victoona Civic Club, Inc., (VCCI) is a volunteer member association in the Victoria Cottages community, approximately 250 properties located on a peninsula on Lake Allatoona in Woodstock, Georgia. If you live here, you’re well aware of the reasons you chose this as your home.

Victoria Cottages community was designed and created by the US Army Corps of Engineers in 1952 as part of the Allatoona reservoir dam project. Properties were leased for “cabins” with no permanent residency. In 1961, lessors were offered to purchase their property, with any unsold lots offered to the public. Still today, it is quite a mix of home types, with narrow streets and rural charm, much different that your normal subdivision.

Victoona Civic Club, Inc. is another great part of living in Victoria Cottages. In 2020, 132 property owners and families are members of the association. As a part of the Corps of Engineers taking the property to private ownership, the VCCI association was formed in January 1962 and was deeded two parcels of land totaling six acres. The larger property is a 3.5-acre park-like setting with a pavilion, playground equipment, and fire pit for large and small group gatherings. The 2.5-acre property included a volunteer firehouse—now the VCCI Clubhouse,  with a thirty-car gravel parking lot.

Around 1980, space was added to The VCCI Clubhouse and updated through a member capital campaign. It now includes restrooms, a “dancehall,” kitchen, and separate storage spaces. The original firehouse now houses the Members Room. VCCI members may rent the gathering space for parties, etc. The Members Room is always available to Members by a phone call for immediate use or a later date.

As you can read above, the 40 years we’ve gotten out of our Clubhouse roof is not too bad, but the last few years of wear have caused other problems that we have to address quickly. We are way beyond patching the roof again. Please consider generously donating today. And thank you.
