Raising Rainbows

When we stood on the altar 6 years ago, we said "I do" to every accomplishment and struggle we would ever face. We jumped with two feet in and never looked back because we knew we had found our person and that was enough.

Our plan was to start a family about a year after we got married - well, a year turned in to 2 years when we realized we loved simply enjoying being married! When we were ready, we weren't expecting the darkest days of our lives. Over the next 2 years I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Endometriosis, MTHFR C677T double gene mutation, and a fibroid in my uterus. My husband and I went through 2 years of infertility services, went through 9 IUI's (intrauterine insemination), lost 5 tiny souls, recovered from 3 surgeries, and endured hundreds of needles. While we are better people - both individually and as a couple - it was nothing short of devastating to watch everything you have ever wanted completely vanish.

2 years after starting our fertility journey, I became incredibly ill. I lost 25 pounds, I couldn't eat, I was in constant pain and I could barely function. Test after test we were unable to determine what was wrong and I was sent to the Cleveland Clinic where they determined I had become ill with SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacteria Overgrowth) and needed some strong antibiotics. During that time I applied to fertility grants and was lucky enough to have been chosen to receive 2/3 of our IVF cycle paid for!

3 days before starting our first round of IVF we found out I was pregnant! A spontaneous pregnancy that gave us our first earth-side baby boy, James Lyman. Now, we are wanting to expand our family again and know that fertility services with a baby are difficult and most grants are offered to couples who have yet to start their family. We were barely making it, living paycheck to paycheck when we paid for each IUI. Now, with a little boy, we don't have the same opportunities to do that.

We are looking to raise money for our fertility services, to hopefully expand our family and later give back to the fertility world by starting our own nonprofit, Raise Rainbows. Any funds not used for fertility services will go towards starting our nonprofit to help others as they walk their own journey through infertility.
