One of Summit Heights' wonderful kindergarten teachers needs our help. Mrs. Kalimbet is currently in Poland trying to get her elderly mother to Canada after fleeing Ukraine.
In mid-March, on one of the last trains leaving Ukraine, her mother was able to escape the war. She left everything behind. It was a harrowing experience, but the two finally found each other in Warsaw.
Mrs. Kalimbet was hopeful that she could quickly get her mom to Canada, but there has been nothing but challenges. Even though Canada is opening its doors to Ukrainian refugees, there is a lot of red tape. That means bills are racking up every day as they wait for the call (i.e. hotel & legal bills, not to mention the flights back and other costs owed once she's here in Canada.) Mrs. K has currently incurred over $10,000 in debt. (The hotel bill alone costs just over $100 per night. She's been there for over a month.) Fleeing a war is not cheap.
Many in Mr. Valdoria's class have already pitched in and raised $1800. That money was etransferred to her to use right away. But others have inquired if they could also contribute. So, we've started this gofundme campaign. We've put a goal of $10,000. Whether we hit our goal or not, she's incredibly appreciative of the support and love we are sending her way. Nevertheless, any contribution you could offer will go a long way in easing her burdens.
Please consider donating.
