I will be doing a 42 mile bike ride from Derby to Sheffield on 13th September 2025 to raise money to support kids and teenagers with type 1 diabetes.
Here is my story…
On the 14th May I was rushed into Derby A&E (resus) because my glucose levels were high and I was always drinking loads and urninating loads , I was dropping loads of weight and it was scary. At 12:15am I was told I had type1 diabetes, I didn’t know what was going on and how this is gonna affect my future. I was strapped up in a bed and had many drips attached to me. I came out 72 hours later and told I had to inject insulin every time I eat carbohydrates and every time I go to sleep and every time I wake up I’m the morning. This was a scary time, I just Wnana say it was scary time of my life and it’s hard to manage it because I’m always checking my levels and always trying to stay in a good level but I’m here raising money to support kids/teenagers who struggle with type 1 diabetes and find it hard.
If you don’t know what type 1 diabetes is, this is what it is Type 1 diabetes messes with your body's ability to regulate blood sugar because your immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells in your pancreas. Without insulin, glucose can't get into your cells for energy, so it builds up in your bloodstream, causing high blood sugar levels.
Want to join me in making a difference? I’m raising money to benefit SUPPORTING CHILDREN WITH DIABETES, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
